In today's travel environment, security regulations concerning airline luggage handling and airport security can be very confusing. Generally speaking, all luggage must conform to and will be handled in accordance with the regulations of airlines, government security requirements and third-party suppliers. Any charges or fees relating to the carriage and the handling of luggage, excluding at the pier and to and from the Aegean Odyssey, are the guests' responsibility. It is always best to check directly with your flight carrier and a government website.
All hand-carried effects are your personal responsibility. Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible for loss or damage to guests' luggage and baggage insurance is strongly recommended. Voyages to Antiquity also recommends that you ensure all luggage locking mechanisms conform to current government regulations and that you do not pack any valuables you consider irreplaceable.
As a general rule, spring and summer clothing/casual wear is the order of the day for all of our itineraries. A good reference service for specific weather conditions for your upcoming voyage is www.accuweather.com
DAYTIME
The mood aboard is casual and relaxed by day. Comfortable, sturdy shoes with non-slip soles are extremely important for walking around the archaeological sites. Walking shorts, loose skirts, breathable short sleeve blouses, are all suitable for women. Cotton shirts, khaki slacks, jeans, and Bermuda shorts are recommended for men.
Please keep in mind that shorts and jeans are not always acceptable in holy places. The onboard staff will let you know of any specific requirements that may be involved during a tour in the evening briefing. A hat is recommended for sun protection as many of the sites are completely open with very little shaded areas.
Women are asked to bring a scarf or hat for visits to mosques and churches. Temperatures can cool off in the evening, or you may find air-conditioning in some areas to be uncomfortably cool. One of the best recommendations that can be made is to bring items that can be layered, and removed or added as you would like for your personal comfort.
EVENING
Smart casual, but far from stuffy or formal, the Aegean Odyssey offers guests a choice of activities in the evenings. There will be evening "discussions" about the day's events, perhaps during cocktail hour, designed to bring our guests together in the country-club like environment.
Resort wear - which typically consists of coordinated sets for the ladies and perhaps a polo shirt, slacks and at times, a jacket, for the men - is highly recommended. Plan to dress and pack as you would for any sophisticated city where you would be going out for a festive evening.
Life onboard the Aegean Odyssey offers an array of activities from our well-equipped gym with lockers and showers, to our whirlpool spa, saunas, and massage and beauty therapy rooms. You can relax on the sweeping sun decks and cool off in the outdoor pool. And like most ships, there is no clock in your cabin to help you keep track of time - after all, you are on vacation.
To help you remember all the little things travelers tend to forget to bring, here's a quick checklist of recommended items to include in your packing:
| Swimsuits (and cover-up) | Travel alarm clock |
| Hat/Sunshade | Electric current converter and plug adapter |
| Sunglasses (perhaps two pairs in case one is mislaid) |
Extra luggage tags (in case yours are lost) |
| Sunblock and after sun cream | Extra pairs of contact lenses or eyeglasses (and prescription copies) |
| Gym shoes | Small plastic bags (good for storing things like film canisters when on tour) |
| Exercise clothing | Large tote bag (for all those souvenirs you may buy while ashore) |
| Beach sandals | Lightweight jacket for breezy evenings |
| Comfortable walking shoes |
